Ben Stark, associate dean for research in the College of Science, has announced that the College of Science Undergraduate Summer Research stipends are available for undergraduate students who are interested in performing research with faculty this summer. The value of the stipends is $5,000 each. Illinois Institute of Technology faculty may nominate students from any major with preference given to College of Science, Humanities, and Social Science students.
Recipients are typically full-time students in good standing, in their sophomore or junior year, with a grade point average of 3.0 or above and do not have any other scholarships which may be similar. Students may be currently engaged in the research or wish to start a new project.
The College of Science offers the stipends because it believes in the importance of research for undergraduates. Research allows undergraduate students to explore their interests, solve problems, advance knowledge, and prepare for the next step — whether graduate school, medical school, or the workplace.
Faculty should submit the nomination form and supporting materials to the College of Science Undergraduate Summer Research Stipend Committee, Engineering 1 Building, Room 220, by Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
