The College of Psychology wishes to inform the IIT community that Bruce M. Fisher, Ph.D. (PSYCH ’87), director of the College of Psychology Center for Research & Service and the IIT Leadership Academy, will be leaving IIT in mid-February to join a Chicago-based consulting firm.
Fisher began as the center’s first director in 1998 and built the center to prominence providing exceptional human resource services. The center has served the academic mission of the IIT College of Psychology by providing opportunities for students to learn through hands-on training in the context of client services, and has funded more than 70 graduate students.
Fisher also directs the IIT Leadership Academy, providing broad leadership programming, hosting the sophomore leadership camp, and directing the new “Fresh in the City” program for new incoming students in the fall. With the help and hard work of Fisher in the center, the funding for the Nambury S. Raju Endowed Faculty Chair in Psychology was completed, enabling the first chair, Ronald S. Landis, to be invested in October 2011.
Fisher has touched many on the campus and will be missed. A farewell reception will take place in the afternoon of Thursday, February 9 on Main Campus. Watch IIT Today for more details.
