Join the Galvin Library Student Advisory Board

Participate in the Galvin Library Student Advisory Board and you can make the library a better place for yourself and others!

The Paul V. Galvin Library is committed to enriching and enhancing the educational experience for students; to that end, the staff is establishing a Student Advisory Board. We would like your input on policies, services, collections and spaces, and welcome volunteers to serve. The board will be composed of 8–12 undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines who will meet a few times each semester to:

  • Provide feedback and insight on library services, collections and spaces
  • Help to identify trends in the student use of services and resources
  • Participate in the development of surveys or focus groups
  • Assist in decision-making that will affect the student body

In the past, Galvin Library has acted on student input and has added:

  • A quiet study zone
  • Increased vending options
  • More soft and comfortable seating
  • A Night Owl Lab
  • Study Week, an additional week of 24-hour access on both library levels

If you are interested in participating, send an email to library@iit.edu with “Student Advisory Board” in the subject line and tell us three things:

  1. Your student status (undergraduate–level freshman, 5th–year or graduate student)
  2. Major or intended course of study
  3. Why you would like to serve on the student advisory board

Please submit your email by Friday, February 1. Board members will be notified by Tuesday, February 12.
