The Nate Thomas Award Ceremony was inaugurated by the Black Student Union to honor graduates of color, faculty, and staff for their commitment, advocacy, and persistence in bringing positive transformative change to the Illinois Tech campus for the benefit of improving campus life for current students and those who come after them. Additionally, the Black Student Union is making an attempt to better close the communication gap between Black students on campus and the African American Alumni Association. The Nate Thomas Dinner & Award Ceremony’s purpose is to commemorate faculty and students who contributed to and epitomized the practice of giving back to the community while using the skills they have been given.
