Training Courses Offered for 312 (CampusGroups) For Departments & Colleges

What is 312?

312 (aka CampusGroups) is a comprehensive student engagement platform available to all members of the Illinois Tech community. 312 currently supports all student organizations and co-curricular initiatives with a robust scope of features, which are detailed below.

Training courses are being offered on October 8 from 3–4:30 p.m. and on October 22 from 3–4:30 p.m. You can RSVP for either of these trainings by clicking the respective links.

These training courses will cover the group management features of the 312 platform, including but not limited to what is listed below:

Group Creation
  • Colleges and departments can request a group by filling out this form.
  • Additionally, departments can be tied to Colleges or Institutes via the “Parent Group” feature.
Events
  • 312 includes a comprehensive event management system for attendance tracking, email reminders, and assessment features.
  • Events in 312 automatically populate to the group’s calendar, the campus-wide 312 calendar, and the Illinois Tech Portal calendar. Additionally, Outlook calendar feeds can be generated and shared to follow and stay informed of any upcoming group events.
Roster Management
  • Ability to sort and manage students who are majoring, minoring, or are just interested in specific offerings through data tags created at the group level.
  • As additional student data is added into the system, all colleges will be able to automatically import their respective students.
Email & Communication Tools
  • 312 includes a built-in email module that allows staff and faculty to directly communicate with their group members. Within this module there are features similar to MailChimp, etc., which allow any content created in the College/Department group to be “imported” in the creation of newsletters, FYIs, etc.
  • As additional student data is added into the system, all Colleges will have the ability to manage emails to students enrolled in their respective areas.
  • Departments can utilize the same feature at their group levels, or in partnership with the colleges.
Surveys, Forms, & Workflows
  • 312 includes a robust surveys and forms module, that allows customization for specific reviewer approver, access control, and logics that correspond to custom created workflows.
  • Workflows allow a submission to any form to be reviewed through a custom process. This can include sign-off by specific individuals or teams of users, and multi-step approval before a submission is “confirmed” to the student or end-user who submitted it.
Tracks & Checklists
  • 312 allows for any “group” to create a track (which is an overarching thematic category) and checklists. Checklists can prompt users to watch videos, complete forms, attend specific events, or even earn badges for completion.
Badges
  • 312 allows the creation of badges, which can be exported to LinkedIn for specific achievements, micro-credential completions, etc.
Service Hours
  • Whether project based or event based, groups can bulk approve and bulk upload community service hours across all members.
Connection Programs
  • Combining a scheduling link and assigning mentors and mentees, 312 allows students to directly engage and meet with mentors identified at the group level. Additional requirements can be set (ie a new student needs to meet with a mentor twice and complete a reflection survey).
Tags
  • Managers of group pages can categorize and update specific data tags to help organize specific subsets of students. This could include those who are minoring vs. majoring in a specific program of study, etc.
Inventory
  • Groups can upload items that are often checked out to students, or other faculty/staff. The inventory feature sends automatic reminders when items are due back.
