Refreshed University Website and Word Marks

Illinois Tech is launching a refreshed visual identity and updating its website graphic design.

The visual identity refresh includes an updated Illinois Tech mark and fonts. The mark is designed to complement the university’s existing, long-form “Illinois Institute of Technology” mark and reflects both Illinois Tech’s Bauhaus roots and the university’s role as an innovator in STEM, business, law, architecture, and design education.

As part of this visual refresh, the university is also updating iit.edu, which will include the new visual identity elements integrated into an updated graphic design. The site will be updated in phases; the first phase, launching the week of November 2–6, will focus on visual alignment with the updated identity. Most notably, the home page will be refreshed with modest content updates and the main navigation will be moved to a “hamburger” menu; otherwise, the navigation will remain unchanged at this time. Subsequent phases will include navigation updates, optimization and accessibility improvements, additional design refinements, and college site updates.

Staff and faculty should begin using the refreshed word mark, fonts, and lockups for academic and administrative units. These and other assets, as well as the updated Illinois Tech Brand Guide, which explains how to use the marks and fonts, will be available on the Illinois Tech Portal under Marketing and Communications Resources.
