IIT Professor Emeritus Bob Bonthron (ME ’44, M.S. MECH ’52, Ph.D. ’62) recently passed away at the age of 91. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, 2013, in Elmhurst. Bonthron taught at IIT from 1946-1991 and also served the university as Dean of Students. During his long tenure at IIT, Bonthron impacted generations of students, and is remembered and beloved by many alumni as well as fellow faculty and staff. The Class of 1962 elected to feature Bonthron as a speaker at their 50th “Golden” reunion in 2012, and he provided many humorous stories from his years mentoring students at IIT during the 1950s and 1960s.
