Illinois Institute of Technology is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Alumni Awards.
On April 13, 2012 a luncheon will be held in Hermann Hall to honor the nine winners for their contributions to their professions, to the world, and to IIT. Look for brief biographies on each of these alumni in IIT Today through April 12, 2012.
International Award of Merit
Barbara Brown Bowman (BIOL ’74) has served many roles in her career—including positions in research, academia, administration, scientific development, and journalism—and has been with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 1992. Currently the associate director for science at the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, she focuses her work on modifiable health-risk behaviors and the leading causes of death, which is central to our nation’s health and world health.
Alumni Service Award
Joel D. Krauss (MATH ’71) co-founded OmniTech Consulting Group and the founder and principal of Market Strategy Group. He has more than 30 years of experience serving executives in business and financial services, manufacturing, communications, and high technology. He is a member of the IIT Board of Trustees and the co-chair of the Campaign for IIT, while serving on the IIT College of Science and Letters Board of Overseers, Alumni Board, and Development Committee.
