BMES.gifArmour College of Engineering student, Veronica Ibarra (BME 4th Year), has received a Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Undergraduate Design and Research Award. She will be recognized and present her work, Evaluation and Control of Alginate Microbead Stability for Islet Encapsulation, at the BMES Annual Meeting that will be held in San Antonio, Texas from October 22-25, 2014.

Only eight undergraduate students are selected to receive the award each year. For the students who are selected, this is a great opportunity to present their work at a national meeting.

Ibarra is no stranger to research and has participated in Armour College of Engineering’s Program for Undergraduate Research Education (PURE) during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters and IIT’s National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She works in the laboratory of Armour College of Engineering Professor Eric Brey and Research Associate Alyssa Appel.
