Illinois Tech Hosts Welcome Week 2014

WWeekSticky_490x225Illinois Tech invites new students to start the new academic year off right with dozens of events hosted by the Office of Campus Life including information seminars, opportunities to meet fellow new and current students and a welcome by IIT President John L. Anderson and Provost Alan Cramb.

Highlights of Welcome Week 2014 include:

Wednesday, August 20, 2014
9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Residence Hall Move-in Day
11 a.m.-1 p.m. — Campus Resource Fair at McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC). Explore the Orientation Resource Fair to learn about important resources from around campus and ask last-minute questions of campus partners.
Noon-4 p.m. — Shopping Shuttles, Wabash and 33rd Streets. Chartered bus services will take students to Roosevelt Road to shop (stores include Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target and Best Buy).

Thursday, August 21, 2014
9-11 a.m. — Design and Humanizing Technology, Hermann Hall Expo.  Sponsored by IIT Institute of Design, this mandatory program for first year students will help students start to think creatively about innovation and technology.
Noon-4:30 p.m.– Ventra Card pickup, MTCC Ballroom. Bring the HawkCard and pick up the CTA Ventra Card which gives access to all Chicago Public Transportation (CTA) buses and trains.

Friday, August 22, 2014
Academic Day of Excellence. A full morning of welcome activities designed to help new students meet faculty, staff, and fellow students:
8:30 a.m.– Academic Breakfasts will be held at various locations across the university. Join the colleges for breakfast and important networking opportunities.
10:30 a.m.– Convocation at Hermann Hall. Join President John L. Anderson and Provost Alan Cramb for a special welcome to campus. This is a mandatory event for all new first year students.
