The Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation will host the 4th Great Lakes Symposium on Smart Grid and the New Energy Economy on September 22-25, 2014 in Hermann Hall on IIT Main Campus. This symposium will bring together the world’s foremost authorities on Smart Grid, cyber security for energy systems, smart grid training, and other vital topics of these emerging technologies.

Carol Hawk, program manager for Cyber Security for Energy Delivery Systems in the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability for the U.S. Department of Energy, will deliver a keynote address at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Doug Scott, chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission, will speak at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

The symposium features both short courses and a full technical program of panel discussions and paper presentations on a wide variety of related topics, including smart street lighting, human and technology elements in the energy equation, and microgrid design and operation, among others.
