The Office of Research invites departments to nominate Illinois Institute of Technology faculty members for National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends. Illinois Tech will then nominate two faculty members to submit proposals to NEH.
- Internal Deadline: Monday, September 21 at noon. Send an abstract no more than three pages in length to Elizabeth Soto, esoto2@iit.edu, by the internal deadline.
- NEH Deadline: Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (ET). However, NEH suggests that you submit your application as early as possible, but no later than 5 p.m. ET on the day of the deadline. Doing so will leave you time to contact the Grants.gov help desk for support, should you encounter a technical problem of some kind.
Type of award: Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months. Successful applicants receive a stipend of $6,000.
Program Description:
- Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both.
- Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.
- Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months.
- Summer Stipends support projects at any stage of development.
- Summer Stipends are awarded to individual scholars. Organizations are not eligible to apply.
Submission via Grants.gov: All applications to this program must be submitted via Grants.gov. NEH strongly recommends that you complete or verify our registration at least two weeks before the application deadline, as it takes time for your registration to be processed.
