Illinois Institute of Technology Athletics has earned a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Coach of the Year honor. Joel Williams, head coach of both cross country and track and field for the men’s and women’s programs, has been named USCAA Coach of the Year for women’s cross country.
Williams has guided the women’s runners to great success this season despite limited numbers. Sophomore Caitlyn Brunner has consistently been near the top of meets, earning two different Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week honors. Seniors Brooke and Rebecca Bell have improved with each passing meet and have emerged as key components to the team.
Williams has been able to guide his team and establish a competitive culture despite joining the Illinois Tech Athletics family in early August, just weeks before the season began.
Illinois Tech cross country will compete at the USCAA Championships on Saturday, November 7 at 11 a.m. EST at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla.
