I was pleased to announce in March that Trustee Madhavan Nayar (M.S. IE ’68) and his wife, Teresa, on behalf of the Nayar Family Foundation, have established an additional $1.1 million prize package for the Nayar Prize II.

The Nayar Prize II provides the Illinois Tech community a second opportunity to develop breakthrough, innovative projects that will, within three years, produce meaningful results with a societal impact.Proposals for the Nayar Prize II are due on Thursday, September 1, 2016.

In October one of three outstanding teams will be selected as the recipient of $200,000 to continue its work in Phase 2 of the first Nayar Prize, introduced last year. During Phase 1 of the competition, it has been exciting to observe the significant steps that each of these interdisciplinary teams has taken to develop innovative solutions to the problems they are investigating.

The Nayar Prize II is your chance to create the next great innovation, to address an issue of important societal concern, and to bring visibility to both your work and Illinois Tech.
