Illinois Institute of Technology Cross Country has earned a weekly honor, as men’s runner Orlando Cardenas has been named The Association of Division III Independents’ Player of the Week for September 4-10.
Cardenas is a freshman and has only competed in two collegiate meets. This past weekend at the Aurora Spartan Classic, he placed 35th out of a field of nearly 200 with a time of 27:09.8 in the 8k race. This was his first-ever collegiate 8k race and his time set a new personal best. The Scarlet Hawks placed 13th in the event.
Illinois Tech will be back in action on Friday, September 23 when they compete in the Brissman Lundeen Invitational which will take place in Rock Island, Ill. at Augustana College.
