The Association of Division III Independents handed out its Fall All-Independent team awards on November 17. Three Illinois Tech Women’s Cross Country runners were honored.
Katie Vosler is the lone Scarlet Hawk selected to the All-Independent Second Team. The freshman from Tulsa, Oklahoma led the way for the Scarlet Hawks in five of the team’s seven meets this season. Her top run of the year came at the USCAA Championships on November 11, where she posted a time of 27:33.0 in the 8k race. One of her top runs also came on October 7 at the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational, where she recorded a 28:18.8 8k mark.
Erin Nelson earned All-Independent Third Team honors. The Chicago native had a strong freshman season, as her top 8k time also came at the USCAA Championships on November 11 (28:32.0). She also led the Scarlet Hawks in North Central College’s Red/White Invite on November 3 (22:57.4 in the three-mile run). Nelson’s time improved in each of the team’s last 8k races.
Julia Briden joins All-Independent Third Team after a strong season of her own. In the freshman’s top race on September 9 at the Aurora University Spartan Classic she posted a time of 28:41.2. She was also strong at the USCAA Championships on November 11 with a time of 28:43.0. The Asheville, North Carolina native led the Scarlet Hawks in one meet this season, doing so at the Augustana Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on September 23 (29:01.4).
