The student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at Illinois Tech has received a Letter of Honorable Mention from the national organization. This is recognition received by only the top third of all Student Organizations based on outstanding activities as recorded in the 2016 Chapter annual report.

One of the group’s biggest accomplishments during this time was planning and hosting the Great Lakes Student Conference. It was the first time Illinois Tech hosted the conference and the group welcomed 19 schools to campus to compete in numerous competitions, lectures, and networking events. The group’s faculty advisor is Assistant Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering Ivan Mutis.
