IIT is pleased to announce that Cindy Chaffee has joined us as the director of Environmental Health and Safety. Chaffee is directly responsible for the planning, organizing, development and coordination of the university’s environmental health and safety programs.

Chaffee worked at Argonne National Laboratory for 21 years. She held the position of manufacturing engineer, which included performing the duties of safety coordinator, building manager, construction project manager, construction field representative, network administrator, and designer/estimator of scientific and safety equipment. She was responsible for personal safety and equipment safety at the facility. In addition to her regular duties, she specialized in engineering, construction project management and radiation shielding verifications. She was served as laboratory safety office and the electrical equipment inspector.
