The Illinois Tech Men’s Soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to 4th ranked University of Rio Grande on Sunday, August 26 at Stuart Field.
The visitors jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 9th minute on a goal by Maximiliano Viera. Patricio Guerra added to the lead with a goal in the waning moments of the first half.
Illinois Tech stepped up in the second half and started creating some momentum and scoring chances. The Scarlet Hawks would be rewarded with a goal by senior Liam Barrett off an assist by freshman Bart Grabowski in the 70th minute.
The Scarlet Hawks were left to press the game for the equalizer and would concede a late goal to finish the scoring at 3-1.
