The Student Employment Office is hosting a Conflict Resolution seminar for all student supervisors on Wednesday, January 31 from 9:30–10:30 a.m. in the Hermann Hall Alumni Lounge. SEO surveyed supervisors last year on the kinds of training that would be helpful, and this topic was by far the most popular. The goal of this seminar is to provide supervisors with information and training on conflict management, and to go over disciplinary and termination procedures. As a student supervisor, you are responsible for creating a work environment that enables your student employees to thrive. The ability to quickly recognize, understand, and resolve conflicts is key to maintaining this environment.
A few topics of discussion include:
- Addressing conflicts – strategies and scenarios
- Managing emotionally charged situations
- Being objective
Want to discuss other topics with us? Include that in your RSVP.
Breakfast pastries and coffee/tea will be provided.
