Illinois Tech Men’s Basketball junior Jake Digiorgio broke the school rebounding record last week while helping lead the Scarlet Hawks to two victories. As a result, Digiorgio was recognized by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for action between January 30 and February 5.
Digiorgio, a team captain, began the week with a 16-point, 11-rebound performance in a 70-60 win over Dominican on January 31. His eighth rebound in the contest was his 765th career board, which passed Samuel Rarick for first all-time in rebounding at Illinois Tech. His performance against the Stars was followed by an 18-point, 14-rebound game at Maranatha Baptist the next day. The Michigan native also shot over 50% in both contests and has now recorded double-digit rebounds in 14 straight games.
