Illinois Tech Esports and Digital Arts Center Grand Opening

Please join us on Wednesday, August 22 from 1–4 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC), Room 725 for the grand opening of the new Illinois Tech Esports and Digital Arts Center.

The space will be used to teach game development and host other workshops related to esports and digital arts. This summer, the space was home to a VR game design and freelance coders camp.

Grand opening schedule

  • 1 p.m. – Visit community tables and talk with student leaders of the esports community, faculty teaching classes related to esports, alumni with businesses related to digital arts and other student reps.
  • 1:45 p.m. – Enjoy remarks from student leaders on the esports board, participate in a raffle with cool prizes.
  • 2 p.m. – President Alan Cramb will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the space.
  • 2:15 p.m. – Desserts and refreshments. Meet fellow gamers and members of the administration, faculty, and staff supporting the esports and digital arts initiative. Special thanks to Howard Tullman, Andrea Berry, President Cramb, Mike Horan, Ophir Trigalo, Bruce Watts, Mike Gosz, Jess Goode, and all leadership members dedicated to the Illinois Tech esports community.
  • 2:30–4 p.m. – Open play. Enjoy challenges, trivia, and, VR games on the Oculus Rift.
  • 4 p.m. – April Welch, advisor to Illinois Tech Esports (ITE), will announce the raffle winners. The esports center will remain open until 7 p.m.
