Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Policy Updates, Upcoming Lectures/Workshops

Illinois Tech’s policy regarding Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) was recently updated. The revised policy incorporates federal regulations and university policy in an effort to continue communicating full awareness of RCR requirements to the research community. Here is a brief overview of the updated policy:

  • Students supported by an Illinois Tech-sponsored project, regardless of funding source, are required to complete one online RCR training module through CITI. Completion is required within sixty days from the date of hire.
  • The university will offer ongoing ethical research lectures and workshops that focus on various RCR topcis. Students supported by an Illinois Tech-sponsored project will be required to attend at least one lecture or workshop.
  • Faculty investigators must conduct targeted one-on-one RCR instruction with their students. Documentation of this instruction must be made available for inspection upon request. The Office of Research Compliance will monitor instruction activities.
