MILWAUKEE, Wis.—The Illinois Tech men’s tennis team has earned its second weekly honor from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). Sophomore Yousef Abdo has been named the league’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 18–24.
Abdo went a perfect 4-0 during the week as the Scarlet Hawks downed Lake Forest (9-0) and Carthage (6-3). He posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Aidan Burke at No. 2 singles against Lake Forest and paired with Adam Laitinen for an 8-4 win over the team of Burke and Joe Bove at No. 2 doubles.
Also holding down the two No. 2 positions in the Carthage dual, Abdo and Laitinen topped Tripp Schulte and Matt Krzewinski by an 8-4 score. Abdo followed that up with a 6-4, 7-6 win over John Nykyforuk at No. 2 singles.
