CHICAGO—The Scarlet Hawks took on the Roosevelt University Lakers on Friday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. A neutral site match as both teams call XS Tennis home during the season, the Scarlet Hawks defeated RU 5-4.
How It Happened
- In doubles, the top combo of Pol de Santiago and Franklin Zhong were 8-1 winners.
- Mohammed Shamel and Brody Croonquist were also victorious for Tech, as the tandem won 8-5.
- Yousef Abdo and Adam Laitinen, the team’s second doubles pairing, fell 9-7 in a close contest.
- Tech was victorious in #3, #4, and #6 singles. Zhong won out of the third spot 6-2, 6-2, while Laitinen and Croonquist won tight matches. Laitinen was victorious 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (6), while Croonquist won 6-7, 5-7, 1-0 (10).
- de Santiago (3-6, 5-7), Abdo (3-6, 7-5, 0-1 12), and Shamel (4-6, 4-6) were defeated in #1, #2, and #5 singles respectively.
