Junior guard Shannon O’Donnell netted her 1,000th career point for the Illinois Institute of Technology women’s basketball team at Benedictine University on Tuesday night. The Scarlet Hawks dropped a 75-31 decision to the first-place Eagles.
Illinois Tech falls to 0-21, 0-16 NACC while Benedictine improves to 20-2, 17-0 NACC.
O’Donnell, who finished with nine points against the Eagles, was nine points shy of 1,000 prior to Tuesday’s bout. She added 11 rebounds to her stat line, which marks her ninth game this season with double-figure rebounds. Erin Efimoff added eight points while Erin Nelson tallied nine rebounds along with four points.
Seventeen Eagles saw playing time, and were led by Britney Pitzer’s 18 points off the bench. Reigning D3Hoops.com Team of the Week selection Alex Fanning registered five blocks for the Eagles, while Allison Michalski commanded her team at the glass with nine boards and three steals.
The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Thursday, February 13 at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
