Illinois Institute of Technology recognizes that students may use names other than their legal name to identify themselves, so we are pleased to announce a new student preferred first name policy. This will provide students with the option to select a preferred first name that will be displayed in certain university systems as identified below. Students will first submit a request to the Office of the Registrar. Assuming the request follows the policy, a student’s preferred first name will then be displayed in the following areas:
- Class lists
- Faculty grade entry
- Student Portal
- Banner self service
- Blackboard
- Odyssey (housing system)
- PNC (student health and wellness system)
- ID cards
