On June 24, 2020, Illinois Tech’s libraries’ search interface will be replaced by a new discovery service that will enable users to search multiple electronic collections in addition to our catalog and traditional print collections, all in one place. This improved search will increase the discovery of resources and save researchers time, while providing a modernized interface. This update impacts most academic libraries in Illinois (I-Share) and will provide users with an improved research experience.
What this means for you:
- Starting on June 24, your search experience will be different. You can still search just print resources, but the default search will include electronic resources, expanding your search results.
- You will be prompted to login through the portal after doing a search to see more results and/or request print materials via I-Share. Currently, you use your A number to log in to request materials in our search interface.
- The URL for the library’s catalog will change, so if you have the old one bookmarked check the library website for the new URL starting June 24.
- You will not need to create a new account or update any items you already have checked out–everything will transfer over and be ready for you in the new interface.
