Through the CARES Act, the university has been allocated funding to assist students with emergency grants. The CARES Act designates these funds under the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to provide direct grant assistance to students to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
These grants are aimed to assist students with food, housing (including costs to move off campus), course materials, health care, child care, technology-related expenses, transportation (such as travel home from study abroad), and other related expenses.
All undergraduate students with a current valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* are invited to apply by completing the application. On this form, select HEERF Application and indicate the relevant expenses due to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Students are welcome to share additional details about their situation and Financial Aid will reach out with any further resources as well.
Illinois Tech aims to support as many students as possible with these relief funds while keeping in mind that some student needs will be greater than others. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to be considered.
Please reach out to the Office of Financial Aid with any questions about the HEERF grant process or with any other needs you have at this time at finaid@iit.edu or 312-567-7219.
*students must be eligible to receive Title IV aid; outstanding federal aid requirements or SAP ineligibility limits HEERF eligibility
