U.S. Department of State and USAID Jefferson Science Fellows Applications

Applications for the U.S. Department of State and USAID Jefferson Science Fellows (JSF) will open on August 3. The JSF program was established by the Secretary of State in 2003 and serves as an innovative model for engaging the American academic science, technology, engineering, and medical communities in U.S. foreign policy and international development. Since its inception, approximately 150 Fellows have served at the U.S. Department of State or USAID, and the program is anticipating an opportunity for up to 15 new Fellows to be selected for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The application period will open on August 3 and will close in mid-October. Qualified faculty may apply, with support from their institution as indicated in an MOU with the National Academy of Sciences and may also be nominated by their institution.

More information on the program is available in the JSF brochure 2021 and on the NAS website https://sites.nationalacademies.org/pga/jefferson/index.htm.
