Join us as we welcome Akihisa Miwa (M.S. OR ’83) to Mies Campus on Monday, December 11 at 11 a.m. in S. R. Crown Hall to receive the Illinois Tech Alumni Association’s International Award of Merit. Following the award presentation by President Alan W. Cramb, Miwa will speak about the groundbreaking work of his company, Obayashi Corporation, which is known for the Tokyo Skytree, the world’s highest free-standing broadcasting tower and the second tallest man-made structure in the world. Hear about the innovations that made the Skytree possible, and learn about Obayashi’s concept for the world’s first elevator to outer space.
