The Office of Marketing and Communications is happy to announce the launch of the IIT Web blog, where we’ll be putting updates about web projects, talking about social media initiatives, sharing data, and outlining strategies for online communications at the university.
As many are already aware, we have begun the process of transitioning much of IIT’s website from Luminis, its existing content management system, to Drupal, a PHP-based, open source CMS. In addition, we will be moving much of the site to Acquia, an external hosting and support company that works exclusively with Drupal sites. The goals of this project are to not only update our site with many of the features and technologies modern websites employ, but to build a flexible site that can evolve along with the Web for many years to come.
There are many improvements to the site that will be made in the transition to Drupal, and we will try to cover them all here on the IIT Web blog. Janet Jaffke, director of web and electronic communication, will manage the blog, though posts will be written by several members of the Marketing and Communications team.
