The B.S. in Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology has been granted full re-accreditation by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) through 2021.
Following the visit by a team of peer evaluators in October 2014, the program was found to have no shortcomings or concerns. Evaluators called the Interprofessional Studies program (IPRO) a particular strength.
ABET accredits college and university programs in applied science, computing, and engineering technology. Peer volunteers from other universities evaluate programs to ensure they meet quality standards. Illinois Tech’s B.S. program was previously evaluated in 2008 – 2009.
“The clean re-accreditation of our CS undergraduate program is a measure of the program quality and will help us to continue to recruit the best students in this vibrant and growing field,” said Russell Betts, Distinguished Professor of Physics and dean of the College of Science.
