Community-Based Participatory Research Training & Research Award (CBPR-TRA)

CBPR projects are defined by questions reflecting a focal health condition (e.g., diabetes, arthritis, asthma, or major depression) intersecting with a specific diverse community (e.g., ethnicity, faith-based community, or gender identity).

The CBPR TRA is to train and then provide resources for two ITM investigators. Suitable candidates are early career investigators or senior colleagues seeking to add CBPR to their skills. Preference is given to investigators who identify with one or more DEIA communities. Investigators must also agree to partner with a community leader, a person from a diverse community with lived experience of the focal health condition.

CBPR-TRA investigators can request up to $10,000 in the first year, with $5,000 each for the investigator and community leader. In the second year, teams can propose a pilot CBPR project with a budget of up to $30,000.
