Congratulations Welcome Week Student Poster Winners

The annual Welcome Week Student Research and Project Poster Day, co-sponsored by the Office of Research and the Office of Student Life, was held on Wednesday 14th August.

Students from across the university came together to present their projects and introduce our incoming students to the exciting work being done here. Winners for best poster presentation were selected by a panel of faculty and staff judges, with an emphasis on communication of the relevance and importance of the work.

The following students and projects were selected and awarded cash prizes, presented by Vice Provost for Research, Fred Hickernell.

Undergraduate division

Winner:
David Cooper (faculty advisor David Minh), for their poster “Intracellular pocket conformations determine signaling through the μ opioid receptor”

Runner up:
Benjamin Ameku (faculty advisor Carlo Segre), for their poster “Oxidation Reduction Reactions (ORR) of Transition Metal Phosphides (TMP) Catalysts in Electrochemical Cells”

Graduate division

Winner:
Joshua Lee (faculty advisor Jeff Wereszczynski), for their poster “Disentangling the Effects of the N-terminal Tails of Histone H3 and CENP-A from the Histone Core on Nucleosome Stability”

Runner up:
King Ankobea-Ansah, (faculty advisor Carrie Hall), for their poster “Explainable AI: Paving The Way To A Greener Future”
