The Security Board‘s quarterly CTO Cloud Computing panel discussion, a candid debate of the impact of cloud computing in education, will be held from 8:30 – 11:30 am on Thursday, September 9 at the IIT UTP Technology Business Center (3440 S. Dearborn).
Executives from organizations like AMD, Bank of America, SGI, Dell, HP, Liquid Ware Labs, SAP, and Oakton Community College will discuss cloud computing’s impact on education, the “Data Center of the Future,” enhancing the region’s resilience, and how IT leaders can connect their companies with innovative technology that will deliver value while fostering the proper educational curriculum necessary to support cloud technology manpower needs in the future.
Topics to be discussed include incremental adoption strategies and reorienting to the “blended fabric;” understanding the benefits and tradeoffs of physical/virtual, public/private, and internal/external; security, compliance, privacy and governance risks; organizing for change: roles, rewards and overcoming cultural resistance; dealing with escalating management costs, lock in and other unintended consequences; and case studies and anecdotes on early adopters and emerging best practices.
There will also be an update on work by the Midwest Academic & Resilience Cloud Computing Consortium (MARCĀ³), a group of colleges, universities and industry partners investigating the use of cloud computing infrastructure to support teaching and learning, cloud computing education and training, academic research, and entry-level resilience and recovery solutions for small to mid size businesses.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. RSVP Today to John Jones at john.jones@thesecurityboard.org.
