A paper authored by Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mahesh Krishnamurthy, and his Ph.D. students Zhi Yang and Fei Shang, was named the top downloaded article on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Transactions on Transportation Electrification journal website in January 2016. The paper, “Comparative Study of Interior Permanent Magnet, Induction, and Switched Reluctance Motor Drives for EV and HEV Applications,” presents the results of his group’s research into the unique characteristics of different types of electric motors.
This research will help automakers select the best type of electric motor to use for their vehicles.
