For the second time this season, Julian Escasa has earned a weekly honor. The first-year swimmer for Illinois Tech has been named the Liberal Arts Conference’s (LAC) Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performance in the Wheaton Quad on January 30.
Escasa was a big reason the Scarlet Hawks finished within five points of first place in the January 30 meet. The first-year continued his strong season with a victory in the 100 Yard Butterfly (53.81s). He also earned third-place finishes in the 50 Yard Freestyle (22.58s) and 100 Yard Freestyle (49.24s). To cap off his banner day, Escasa competed with Illinois Tech’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, finishing fourth.
The Scarlet Hawks are now preparing for the Liberal Arts Championships. The three-day event will be held from Thursday, February 11 through Saturday, February 13 at Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
