New students joining Illinois Tech for Fall 2023 should submit their HawkCard ID photo online by July 31, to ensure their HawkCard ID and UPass (Eligible Students & Optional) are ready for Welcome Week/Move-in beginning August 14. The semester UPass effective date will be August 14 as well. Effective Fall 2023, UPass eligibility has been extended to part-time students registered for 6 credits or more. Fall registration of at least 6 credit hours and the opt-in form must be completed to have a Ventra UPass card ordered (new students) or activated (returning students).

The HawkCard ID facilitates access to residence halls, meal plans, academic spaces and more. New students are encouraged to prioritize Online ID photo submission to gain timely access to the campus experience. We will continue to accept online photo submissions on an ongoing basis, but they will be subject to processing time of up to three business days.

Ventra UPass cards for returning students who opt in to participate for Fall 2023 will be activated effective August 14 or within one week after the opt-in form is submitted. As a reminder, a new card will not be issued each semester. Your Ventra card is intended to last throughout your program at Illinois Tech, unless a replacement card is required.
