The Real Time Communications Lab and the IEEE Chicago Section are pleased to announce a talk by Nicolas Corsini, a recent graduate of the Computer Science Department at Illinois Tech, describing his project on “The Future of Ambulance Detection: Towards Safer Roads and Smarter Travel.” The talk will take place Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. Please register on Zoom.
His novel solution involves using Vehicle-to-Vehicle communications protocols, to broadcast the emergency vehicle’s location and direction of travel in real-time. This solves the problem faced by drivers everywhere — we hear the siren, but do not know where the vehicle is and in which direction it is moving — and so, we do not know how to behave to protect ourselves and others!
