February 5 marked the start of Recyclemania, an eight-week competition among universities in the United States and Canada to see who can recycle the most (by volume and per capita). IIT placed second in the state of Illinois in 2011 and we are looking to take the top spot this time around. To achieve this, we are aiming for a 45-50% recycling rate (currently we are around 30%). Remember that paper, newspapers, magazines, plastic bottles and containers, cardboard, aluminum cans and metal containers are all recyclable. There are recycling bins located across campus for your convenience. Recycling makes a huge impact in reducing our environmental impact, so go get your recycle on for Recyclemania.
