On Wednesday, March 28 the Humanities Department will host a Women’s History Open House Event in the Siegel Hall, room 218 (conference room) from 3 – 4:45 pm. Everyone is welcome: students, staff, faculty, and all genders. There will be food, good conversation, and handouts on women’s history resources, including a pocket timeline of interesting events in women’s history put together by Humanities faculty.

“Intellectual creativity is sparked by diversity of experience. Women’s History Month gives us an opportunity to look at less well known experiences in our collective past, and draw new insights,” said Marie Hicks, assistant professor of history. Hicks is a historian of technology, gender, and modern Europe, specializing in the history of computing.

“Women’s History Month isn’t just about celebrating women’s accomplishments, but about looking at how gendered ideals affect what we know, what we think we know, and how we create knowledge.”
