Family Weekend takes place each fall at Illinois Tech and is open to all IIT students, alumni, IIT family members, faculty and staff. It is a time for the IIT community to partake in the same spirit that embraces IIT students on campus throughout the academic year.

Family Weekend Check-In
5-7 p.m.
Stop by the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Welcome Center to check-in and pick up a Family Weekend shirt (quantities limited) and meal tickets for the weekend.

Saturday, October 18
Noon – 3 p.m.

The 10th Annual Pumpkin Launch
1 – 2:30 p.m.
The 10th Annual IIT Pumpkin Launch will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 on the Ed Glancy Field. Using pumpkin-launching machines designed and built by students, teams compete for prizes for distance and accuracy, using catapults, trebuchets, and ballistas. At the conclusion of the Pumpkin Launch, IIT’s Residence Hall Association will be hosting pumpkin carving.

Interested in finding out why one launcher did better than the other? Join the teams and Duchossois Leadership Professor of Physics Carlo Segre, and discover what’s behind the favorite campus tradition. The discussion will take place at Ed Glancy Field.

Chicago Architecture Foundation: Open House Chicago
October 18-19
Open House Chicago is a free public festival that offers behind-the-scenes access to 150 buildings across Chicago. This year, Carr Chapel, McCormick Tribune Campus Center, and S. R. Enjoy brunch on Sunday morning in The Commons, located in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center.
