Illinois Tech Baseball Promotes Men’s Health Awareness with “No Shave November”

A clean-shaven John Rotella

You may have heard of “No Shave November” or “Movember” being promoted by some well-known athletes, like Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears and Aaron Rogers of the Green Bay Packers. Over November, the Illinois Tech baseball team also put down their razors in the hopes of raising awareness for men’s health.

Head Coach Scott Marks offered the opportunity to his team that all players who wished to participate that they would be clean shaven on November 1 and not groom or trim any facial hair until November 30. A photo of each player was taken on the 1st and again on the 30th; the photos were compared and one player was selected to have the best “No Shave November Beard.”

This year’s unanimous winner was John Rotella a senior RHP/infielder from Sugar Grove, Ill. Thanks to all of the players for participating! If this triggered just one person to think about men’s health awareness, then it was was well worth it. Put it on your calendars for next year and join IIT baseball in spreading the knowledge.
