The Illinois Tech Association for Computing Machinery Women (ACM-W) student organization attended the Women Engineers Code (WECode) conference at Harvard University March 2-4. Students from Illinois Tech who attended on behalf of ACM-W were Avery Peck (BSCS First Year), Shruti Akkala (MCS Second Year), Fatima Azfar (MCS BSCS Third Year), Aleksandra Kukielko (MCS BS Fifth Year), Sarbani Bhattacharyya (BS CS Second Year), and Yi Chen Hsueh (MS CS Second Year).
WECode is the largest student-run Women in Computer Science conference held at Harvard University each winter. The conference is dedicated to expanding the skills, network, and community of technical women worldwide, bringing together engineers over the course of two amazing days to share ideas and conversations on technology and innovation.
Speakers and recruiters from companies like Google, IBM, Comcast, Pinterest, Github, Facebook, and more were in attendance and looking to make professional connections. The keynote speakers were Chieko Asakawa from IBM, Jess Lee from Sequoia, Ruthe Farmer from the Obama Administration and CSforAll, and Pamela Rice from Capital One.
