CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa–The Illinois Tech men’s swimming and diving team opened the Liberal Arts Championships on Wednesday on a strong note. In the lone men’s event of the day, the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Seth Wissenbach, Matthew Randle, Tyler Van Wagener, and Julian Escasa placed second in the eight-school field with a time of 7:07.61.
The quartet trailed only Nebraska Wesleyan’s time, which clocked in at 7:06.81. In addition, the Scarlet Hawks also had a relay including Ryan Escasa, John Wolniak, Samuel Kalenowski, and Miles Thompson record a time of 7:39.35. While those four did not score any points for the Scarlet Hawks, it was the group’s season-best time and placed sixth out of nine relay teams in the race.

Tomorrow’s action begins at 10 a.m. Events will be the 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 400 Medley Relay, and 3-Meter Diving. Coe will provide both live results and a live video stream for each day of the meet.
