The Illinois Tech Men’s Swimming and Diving team had a successful weekend at the Liberal Arts Conference meet. The strong showing earned Illinois Tech great representation on the All-LAC team, as Karsen Diepholz, Jay Korhonen, Julian Escasa, and Seth Wissenbach all finished in the top three in different events.
Diepholz not only is an all-conference swimmer, but had one of the most impressive swims in school history in his 1650 Freestyle Relay. With a time of 15:59.97, he set a school, pool, and LAC record while also recording a NCAA B-Cut time. He also had All-Conference swims in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:43.34), 500 Yard Freestyle (4:40.95), and was a part of Illinois Tech’s 800 Yard Freestyle relay team.
Korhonen ended his collegiate career on a strong note, as the senior finished in the top three in four events. He finished third in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (1:56.31) and second in the 400 Yard Individual Medley (4:08.47). Korhonen also placed second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:09.56 plus part of the second-place 800 Yard Freestyle Relay Team.
Junior Escasa and Wissenbach—just a freshman—were also part of the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay Team that finished with a time of 7:01.08 and placed second.
The Scarlet Hawks placed third in the overall rankings with 534 points.
