Nambury S. Raju Lecture: “Happy Productive Work Units: What Matters?”

The Lewis College of Human Sciences Department of Psychology will host the Nambury S. Raju Lecture on Thursday, September 14 at 3:30 p.m. in The McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Auditorium.

The Nambury S. Raju Lecture Series honors the late Nambury S. Raju, former distinguished professor in Illinois Tech’s industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology program. Raju was an influential scholar in the area of research methodology and his impact has had a lasting effect on the field of I-O psychology. Hosted by Ron Landis, the Nambury S. Raju Professor of Psychology, the goal of the Raju series is to bring to Illinois Tech’s campus researchers and practitioners who are studying important phenomena using cutting-edge techniques in the area of I-O psychology.

The fall 2017 speaker will be José M. Peiró.

José M. Peiró is a professor of social psychology and the director of the University Institute of Research in Psychology of Human Resources, Organizational Development and Quality of Work Life (IDOCAL) at the University of Valencia. He is also a research professor at the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE). He directs the doctoral program of psychology and coordinates Erasmus Mundus master’s program in work, organizational, and personnel psychology (WOP-P) taught by several European and American universities.

He is a past-president of the International Association of Applied Psychology and has been president of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP, 1995-97) and vice-president of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology (2002-2003). He is an academic of number for the Academy of Psychology of Spain and is Doctor honoris causa by the Methodist University of São Paulo (2010). He is also a fellow of several national and international associations such as the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology. He has been given the Aristotle Award of the European Federation of Psychology Associations (2015), the International Council of Psychologists (2013), the International Association of Work and Organizational Psychology, and the Gold Medal of the General Council of Industrial Relations and Labor Sciences (Granada, 2010).
