Due to new requirements under the Affordable Care Act, you might receive some new forms this winter providing you with information about the health coverage you had or were offered in 2015. The most common forms are the 1095 series forms, which employers must send to individuals eligible for coverage. These forms include information about coverage offered to you and any covered dependents. These forms do NOT need to be filed with your taxes.
The deadline for employers to provide these forms has been extended to Thursday, March 31, 2016. However, the IRS has advised that individual taxpayers will generally not be affected by this extension and should file their returns as they normally would.
