To enable our students to perform their best at the career fairs, Career Services is organizing a series of events designed to empower students with the tools and skills they need to get the most out of their employer interactions.
Networking for Nerds
When: Wednesday, February 8 from 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. (split into sessions)
Where: Various locations
Alaina G. Levine, author of the award-winning book Networking for Nerds, will host a schedule of day-long programming on a variety of career development topics. Known for her lively, interactive, comedic, and entertaining presentations, Levine has given over 600 keynote speeches, workshops, and webinars across the United States for clients in Canada, Europe, and Mexico.
Workshop topics include:
- Leveraging social media for networking and career advancement
- Strategic planning for various majors
- Personal discussion and open Q&A sessions
- Negotiation strategy and tactics

Career Fair Prep Night
When: Monday, February 13 from 4–7 p.m.
Where: The McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Auditorium and Ballroom, MTCC Executive Conference Room
Practice and get immediate feedback on your resume, LinkedIn profile, employer introduction (“elevator pitch”), and more. The Prep Night is a chance to help get students better prepared for the Spring Career Fairs and become more confident and skilled at interacting with employers.
